Economics and Finance: A Web of Lies

cartoon image - honesty and business

ECO 101 - Any introductory course to economics describes the theory of supply and demand; the market system; the concept of inflation, deflation, stagnation; monetary policy and central banks; and more.

FIN 301 - Finance, at the intermediate to advance level in the pursuit of any business degree, will have you learn the concept of the time value of money (TVM). The principle behind the "time value of money" is simply "a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow".  However, the definition of the TVM becomes convoluted as follows:

Investopedia defines the TVM as the idea that money available at the present time is worth more than the same amount in the future due to its potential earning capacity. This core principle of finance holds that, provided money can earn interest, any amount of money is worth more the sooner it is received.

Try reconciling the basic principles of economics in which a fair and equal market determines a stabilized price (eliminates inflation, deflation) versus the principle of a deflating dollar - prices continue to rise reducing your dollars power. How the heck is this possible in a just and equitable market?

The answer to this is that central banks are privately owned. In the US, the privately owned central bank is known as the Federal Reserve.

After the 2088 financial crash in which Ben Bernanke was the then Chair of the Federal Reserve, the following video shows the deception within which we, the people are to believe the banking system is NOT private.

The above video shows Florida representative Alan Grayson asking Bernanke the simple question of where did the missing money go

The bottom line is Bernanke's message, Chair of the United States Federal Reserve Central Bank, is that their goal is the raising of interest. For Mr. Alan Grayson's ability to draw out this valuable information from the then Chair of the Reserve, is it any wonder Mr. Grayson is drawing bad press?

FDA - DEA- NIH - NIDA - Controlling Cannabis

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), "medicines today are expected to be of known composition and quality. Even in cases where marijuana can provide relief of symptoms, the crude plant mixture does not meet this modern expectation. The future of medical marijuana lies in classical pharmacological drug development, and indeed there has been a resurgence of scientific, as well as public, interest in the therapeutic applications of cannabinoids."

Further - "Current scientific accomplishments have propelled interest in developing new drugs that can treat more effectively or more safely the constellation of symptoms for which cannabinoids might have therapeutic benefit  Through the process of what is referred to as “rational drug design,” scientists manipulate the chemical structures of known cannabinoids to design better therapeutic agents."

Under the Controlled Substances Act, cannabis is a schedule 1 drug and participating countries are required to restrict production, manufacture, possession and distribution of cannabis except for medical and scientific purposes.

The DEA regulates the cultivation of cannabis for research purposes through licensing requirements and establishing production quotas under the authority of the CSA.

To conduct clinical drug research with Cannabis in the US, researchers are required to file an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the FDA, obtain a Schedule 1 license from the US DEA and obtain approval from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). The NIDA, an institute of the National Institute of Health (NIH), is the only organization in the US licensed by the DEA to manufacture and distribute cannabis for research purposes. This function is performed under its Drug Supply Program. Through the program, the NIDA arranges for cannabis to be grown and processed through contracts with two organizations: the University of Mississippi and the Research Triangle Institute.

This elaborate control began with The Flexner report of 1910 and the recommendations it contained including :
  • Train physicians to practice in a scientific manner and engage medical faculty in research;
  • Give medical schools control of clinical instruction in hospitals
  • Strengthen state regulation of medical licenses
From this report, medicine was changed forever.  Medicine from natural healing products became known as quackery while lab based synthetic drugs - based on "science" - became known as "safe and effective" sound medicine.

The following has noted, extensively:

"Naturopathic and homeopathic medicine, medical care focused on unpatentable, uncontrollable natural remedies and cures was now dismissed as quackery; only drug-based allopathic medicine requiring expensive medical procedures and lengthy hospital stays was to be taken seriously...
It should also be noted that drug approval by the FDA permits the drug's manufacturer to market it for the treatment of a single specific symptom or condition. This "one pill for one symptom or condition" mindset, allows for a plethora of drugs with side effects.

Medical Cannabis in Canada and The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)

image and link to CFPC

The practice of family medicine in Canada was in considerable decline in the years leading up to the founding of The College of Family Physicians of Canada in 1954.

The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) published preliminary guidelines for the Physicians in Canada.

The regulatory board governing doctors in Canada states that the new Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) has put doctors in a "difficult position: we are asked to authorize our patients’ access to a product with little evidence to support its use, and in the absence of regulatory oversight and approval."

According to this regulatory body, physicians in Canada must be on the alert for 'cannabis use disorder' in those patients seeking medical marijuana.

This regulatory board further contends that by grouping cannabis in with cocaine, alcohol and other drugs, a number of harmful effects exist in cannabis, alcohol, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.

The CFPC advises doctors in Canada to consider a trial of pharmaceutical cannabinoids before conceding and agreeing to dried marijuana since, they assert, that no researched evidence exists to support authorizing the use of dried marijuana. This is despite the fact that clinical trials with cannabis actually began in 1974.

The board governing family Physicians in Canada are advised to counsel those patients seeking marijuana that are suspected of a 'cannabis use disorder' to send them to an addiction treatment facility.

With the above information and reference, is it not evident that the pharmaceutical industry controls, and always have controlled those we call our health care professionals?

 Coffee Enemas

Dr. Max Gerson advocated 'coffee enemas' as a  CURE for a number of diseases, including cancer, as far back as WWII.

The Gerson Therapy is alive and well thanks to Dr. Gerson's daughter Charlotte Gerson.

The concept of 'Coffee enemas' is not a new phenomenon. In fact, Mae West, the voluptuous bombshell of the thirties and forties and famous for such lines as 'It's not the men in my life that count, it's the life in my men.", contributes her vitality to her daily morning enemas.

If you click on the above image, it will take you to your amazon site and will enlighten you on how to download this book. The book describes exactly how to perform an enema, what you need, where to get your supplies, and anything else you need know to help you incorporate the practice of performing enemas into your daily ritual.

There are so many benefits resulting from coffee enemas that can be described as life transforming and utterly amazing. Even if you are not suffering from a debilitating disease or illness, a truly amazing and immediate benefit you will immediately notice after undergoing your first coffee enema, is a dramatic boost in physical energy, mental clarity and upbeat mood. Other benefits of coffee enemas also include the elimination of parasites, bloating and associated digestive issues. Coffee enemas also helps your liver in many ways including assisting in the production of bile, eliminating stones and assists in regenerating a scarred liver.

There are so many benefits resulting from performing coffee enemas that make it impossible to summarize in one page. The above book will help you to incorporate this amazing beauty regime into your life with ease.

Medical Cannabis and the Interference of the State

Let the People Grow

Justice Michael Phelan of the Federal Court addressed a very important addressed in the Allard et al v. Her Majesty the Queen a constitutional challenge in the right to use a valuable health remedy.

An expert witness for the plaintiff, Dr. Kalant, stated the following valuable information:

"Dr. Kalant touched upon a problem that has run throughout this case – that despite the government having exerted control over medical marijuana, there is a surprising lack of research to justify many of the assumptions relied on by government. He acknowledged that there is insufficient evidence on which to base scientifically reasoned dosage ranges for different medical uses and acknowledged that patients can develop significant levels of tolerance to the effects of particular dosages."

The new MMPR regulations known as the Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulation, became invalid as a result of this decision. Furthermore, this decision has given the Canadian Government six months - from February, 2016 - to devise a "Charter compliant" new or revised medical marijuana regime.

It seems like there's a huge opportunity opening up with respect to medical cannabis.

Think Before you Pink

The Canada Revenue Agency makes available all financial information required to be filed by registered Canadian Charities.

I typed in 'cancer' and was taken aback with the number of registered cancer charities. I chose 'Canadian Cancer Society' to view their financial statements. My jaw is still on the floor because of the amount of money these organizations accumulate.

Under Charity legislation in Canada, a registered Canadian Charity is required to spend at least 80% of their receipted income in the following year. This 80% is known as the disbursement quota and includes transfers of money to qualified donees.

In reviewing the financial information of various cancer charities, it is clear that they operate by shuffling money between themselves as a way to meet the required disbursement quota.

The Canadian Cancer Society - Toronto, in their most recent financial statements, received $34 million as income from other charities and paid out $1.5 million in management salaries, $1.3 million in professional fees, $1.4 million in miscellaneous expenses and over $13 million to 'qualified donees'.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, also in Toronto, reported earning over three million dollars in interest income in their most recent financial statements. This charity also reported paying out over $18.2 million to qualified donees.

How is it that a charity is able to earn over three million dollars in interest income if they are supposed to be focused on charity activities?

Cannabichromene and Cannabidiol (CBC vs CBD)

image of GC

In organic chemistry, a method of separating the compounds in a medicinal plant involves a type of chromatography. The most common types of chromatography used includes gas chromatography (GC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and thin layer chromatography (TLC).

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), since inception, recommended using Gas Chromatography in determining drug-type marijuana from fiber-type marijuana along with using a ratio of only two cannabinoids - THC and CBD.  They have determined that a ratio of greater than one means drug-type and less than one indicates fiber or hemp type.

Chromatogram using GC

The problem with gas chromatography is in its lack of ability in separating the cannabinoids cannabichromene - CBC and cannabidiol - CBD.

In most Indica strains tested using Thin Layer Chromatography, there was either no cannabidiol present or there was only trace amounts relative to CBG - cannabigerol, THCV - tetrahydrocannabivarin, CBC - cannabichromene and THC.

As a result of the UN's antiquated testing method with the view of confiscating cannabis, the new emerging cannabis industry market is starting off on the wrong foot by indicating only THC and CBD as the only cannabinoids deemed worthy of knowledge and disclosure.

Turmeric - Health and Beauty Benefits

book image of Turmeric

"Turmeric: A Cancer Cure?" by Ryder Management Inc. describes the amazing health AND beauty benefits of turmeric.

Did you know that 'Ole Miss" was granted a patent on their so called invention of turmeric's healing abilities but then subsequently had their patent revoked when India challenged it?

"Ole Miss" also known as the University of Mississippi has the "R1' status as determined by the Carnegie system. ("Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education" is a ranking of Universities providing research and R1 is the highest)

Turmeric, also called 'haldi' in India, is known as the 'sine qua non' of food and medicine (sine qua non can roughly be translated to mean 'without which, there is none').

The biopiracy of turmeric occurred not long after the attempted biopiracy of 'neem'. The question is 'how can anyone be granted a patent - intellectual property right' on something which has been the collective wisdom of an indigenous population since antiquity?'

Turmeric is a spice included in curry. It is also a dye and is responsible for the color of the mustard we put on hot dogs. Turmeric is related to ginger and comes from the root of the curcuma longa plant

The health benefits of turmeric is long, however, the benefits of using a paste of turmeric powder with coconut oil as a facial mask is nothing short of amazing.

A haldi paste, applied to the body, is a ritual in traditional Hindu weddings. It is usually made with equal parts of gram flour and raw milk. Gram flour is also known as besan, chick pea flour and garbanzo bean flour and is a staple on the Indian subcontinent.

This book, The Ideal Morning Routine describes twelve simple habits to incorporate into your morning ritual that will change your life for the better.

For example, the Ideal Morning Routine #2 is all about Oil Pulling. Although oil pulling is not new, it is appearing more and more in current news blogs including Natural News , WebMed, and Dr Axe.

Oil pulling involves swishing about a teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth for about 10-20 minutes upon rising and then spitting it out. This procedure literally removes any and all bacteria and germs that accumulate in your mouth while you sleep. The list of health benefits associated with this practice is lengthy and includes whiter teeth, reduced cavities, reduced inflammation, prevents heart disease, kills bad breath, strengthens gums and jaw, and so much more.

Following Oil Pulling is Ideal Morning Routine #3 - Lemon Water. The benefits of drinking a glass of filtered water with 1/4-1/2 lemon squeezed into it, is very impressive. For such a simple and inexpensive drink, not only does a glass of lemon water increase your vitamin C content, this drink also aids in your digestion, boosts your immune system, increases your energy, freshens your breath and so much more.

In addition to describing the benefits of oil pulling and drinking a glass of lemon water in the morning, The Ideal Morning Routine also explains exactly how to incorporate these routines and what you each will do for you.

Cannabis Use Disorder and Nabilone

cartoon on pot

In a recent study published in the March, 2016 issue of JAMA Psychiatry, it was reported that researchers at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) are sounding the alarm over a possible increase in unknown cognitive and behavioral harms that widespread cannabis use may unmask.

A clinical review conducted by NIDA director Nora Volkow, MD, points out that as legalization of the drug for recreational and medical use spreads, vulnerable populations, especially adolescents, are exposed to toxic effects of the drug.

"This is not a problem that is specific to marijuana," Dr Volkow told Medscape Medical News."Young brains and drugs shouldn’t mix. Period."

Surprisingly, clinical trials are underway in the US to test Nabilone, a synthetic cannabinoid, as a treatment for Cannabis Use Disorder

Other studies in the US report that a high percentage of children who are insured under Medicaid use some type of psychiatric drug. In addition, most of those children prescribed an anti-psychotic, are taking them for an 'off-label' use.

If the above is not contradictory enough, GW Pharma has filed a patent for their discovery of two cannabinoids found in cannabis, namely THCV and CBD, as having the means to treat psychosis!

Canada Pension Plan Disability - CPP-D

Denied CPP

CPP-D in Canada is a section of the Canada Pension Plan legislation that is supposed to provide supplemental payments should you, as a working contributor, become disabled.

As and applicant, you need a best friend in this particular endeavour.

To the rescue is: DCAC - Disability Claims Advocacy Clinic Inc.

The above is separate and independent from the following:
According to Canada, under the new CPP-D legislation, disability is defined as

"a severe disability, meaning that you are so incapacitated that you cannot work full-time, part time, or seasonally to support yourself. According to the legislation, a disability is severe if it results in the person being “incapable regularly of pursuing any substantially gainful occupation”

(Section or sub-para 42 [2] [a] [i]) Determining what is considered “substantially gainful” involves looking at a number of factors, such as the level of your earnings, and how well you are able to do job tasks

. • You must have a prolonged disability, meaning that your disability must be expected to continue for a long time or a significant time after your application. According to the legislation, a disability When a person deemed disabled
(2) For the purposes of this Act, .

(a) a person shall be considered to be disabled only if he is determined in prescribed manner to have a severe and prolonged mental or physical disability, and for the purposes of this paragraph,

(i) a disability is severe only if by reason thereof the person in respect of whom the determination is made is incapable regularly of pursuing any substantially gainful occupation, and

(ii) a disability is prolonged only if it is determined in prescribed manner that the disability is likely to be long continued and of indefinite duration or is likely to result in death; and

(b) a person shall be deemed to have become or to have ceased to be disabled at such time as is determined in the prescribed manner to be the time when the person became or ceased to be, as the case may be, disabled, but in no case shall a person be deemed to have become disabled earlier than fifteen months before the time of the making of any application in respect of which the determination is made.

Each one of these words have their own meaning in Canada Pension Plan disability benefit claims.

The disability has to be severe – as defined as the claimant must be “incapable regularly of pursuing any substantially gainful occupation”.

Substantially gainful occupation has been defined by the Canada Pension Plan as being able to earn an amount equivalent to the the maximum monthly CPP retirement pension.

As of January 2012, the maximum monthly CPP retirement pension is $986.67.

(Section 42 [2] [a] [ii]). “Prolonged” at the time of application does not refer to past duration of the disability, although that may help show it is prolonged. The question is whether the disability is likely to be long continued in the future.

Hemp Seed

Healing-Source Hemp Hearts

What is so great about hemp seed? It has to be THE most nutritious food on the planet and thus, can be considered a superfood. Hemp can help achieve optimal health and well-being when four-five tablespoons are consumed on a daily basis. Hempseed, if it were the only item available to eat, contains all the nutritional requirements to sustain life.

Hemp seed is a rich source of protein, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, iron, zinc, vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamins B6, B12, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B-2), niacin (B3), folate (B-9), all the essential amino acids and the most balanced source of essential fatty acids (EFA) known.

Hemp seed also contain a surprisingly high level of the amino acid arginine, known to assist in homeostasis in the body.

Hemp seed contain the perfect ratio of omega-6 EFA (known as linoleic acid) to omega-3 EFA (known as alpha-linolenic acid) making hemp seed very easy for our body to digest. In addition, hemp seed contains the rare ESA gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) an omega-6 and stearidonic acid (SDA) an omega-3.

Essential fatty acids are called essential since our body is unable to make it on its own and therefore requires EFA's from our diet. The EFA's in hemp seed are in a perfect ratio to protect the brain from dementia, fight inflammation and protect the heart and immune system. Studies have shown that a deficiency or an imbalance in essential fatty acids is linked to many diseases and conditions. For a list of illnesses and diseases that hemp, as an excellent source of essential fatty acids, can treat, please click here - thanks to Miracle Source.

It's abundantly clear that there are so many health provoking reasons to include hemp seed in our daily diet.  What is the easiest way? You can sprinkle hemp seed on everything you eat however, what about hemp milk?

Hemp Milk Recipe

There are so many recipes for hemp milk, the ratio of filtered water to hemp seed might seem confusing. However, the beauty of being able to make your own hemp milk, is in the control you have in getting it just right - just the way you like it.

If you are just starting to experiment with making your own hemp milk, the first hurdle to overcome is choosing the ratio of filtered water to quantity of hemp seed for your particular palate. Understanding that hemp seed is a valuable commodity should help you be somewhat conservative to start. With this in mind, the standard recipe for hemp milk will have you start with two to up to four cups of cold filtered water and 1/2 cup up to one cup of hemp seed; this is  added to your food processor or NutriBullet and blended until your desired consistency is reached. These recipes also mention filtering the milk through a cheesecloth or strainer, prior to serving.

The following is a standard recipe for Hemp Milk:

1 cup of hemp seed
3 cups of filtered water
pinch of Himalayan Salt (or Celtic sea salt)

If sweetened milk is desired, add:

1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
2-6 pitted Medjool dates or 2 - 3 Tbsp of maple syrup, honey or other sweetener.

Instructions:

Blend all in your blender for 30-60 seconds.

Alternative Methods:

A number of methods would have you strain your milk using a nut milk bag, cheesecloth or sheer nylon hosiery. IMHO (in my humble opinion), unless you will be using the strained material, you are otherwise, throwing out very variable nutrients.

What is Azodicarbonamide and Why is it in Our Food?

this should not be in bread
Azodicarbonamide

Azodicarbonamide - a.k.a. ADA

Azodicarbonamide is a synthetic chemical that is principally used as a blowing agent in the production of foamed plastics, such as yoga mats. As a food additive, it is used as a "flour bleaching agent and dough conditioner".

The European Union has labelled Azodicarbonamide as harmful and has banned its use. It is also banned in the UK and Australia. In Singapore, use of this synthetic chemical can bring a fine of $450,000 and 15 years in jail.

Make no mistake, Azodicarbonamide is a known toxic chemical yet the FDA has given it the GRAS status - 'generally recognized as safe'.  What this means is that food companies in the US continue to use this toxin in products that are even labelled as 'Healthy' and 'Natural'.

According to a World Health Organization (WHO) publication on Azodicarbonamide, they determined that although Azodicarbonamide is a known 'Asthmagen', since the amount required to promote an asthmatic attack is unknown and the level of risk uncertain, occupational 'exposure risks should be reduced as much as possible.'

According to another study published in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry, Azodicarbonamide is a carcinogenic that is known to cause tumors.

According to a Seattle organization promoting healthy food, Azodicarbonamide is one of the top ten food additives banned in most countries except the US.

Azodicarbonamide also feeds candida, causing an overgrowth of this bad bacteria.
